Answer 1 Communications Helps Food For The Hungry In Tsunami Relief Effort
PHOENIX, AZ, Jan.24---Food for the Hungry raised over $20,000 last Friday to help victims of the tsunami, with the assistance of Answer 1 Communications, www.Answer1.com, a nationwide telemessaging center.
The entire day was centered on the tsunami relief at Answer 1 Communications. Various radio campaigns, from New York’s inspiring talk radio station WMCA, to Charlotte’s New Life 91.9 took part in the effort. “We are honored to be a part of this effort”, said Answer 1’s President, Mary Jones. “Our entire office offered support to Food for the Hungry, and we appreciate being a part of the hope.”
Food for the Hungry reports they were on site within 24 hours providing immediate assistance to those in this devastated region of the world, and is committed to stay there to care for the long-term needs of survivors:
Indonesia Intervention: An assessment and response team, led by FH VP for Asia, David Sir, reached Banda Aceh on December 28. Six FH medical teams, trauma counselors and a water specialist are on the ground. A shipment of food for 1,500 people arrived in Meulaboh.
India Intervention: Distribution of food rations, hygiene supplies, clothes, utensils, bedding and tarps to 20,000 families.
Thailand Intervention: Assessment and response team, led by FH International President Randy Hoag, was on site in less than 24 hours. Water, food, clothing and cash ($12 per family) distributions and mobile medical clinic reached 3,500 people.
Sri Lanka Intervention: Medical assistance and emergency food and water distributions began almost immediately of food, water, medical supplies, well pumps, clothing, candles and blankets for 10,000 people.
